Learning Objectives

  • Recognize the OH&S management systems and standards scope
  • Recognize the methods, procedures, and auditing principles of risk assessment
  • Describe the distinctions between global standards for quality/environmental management and OH&S
  • Plan, prepare, conduct, and report verbally and in writing an audit of an organization's management

Expected Prior Knowledge

  • The Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle
  • The purpose and benefits of an occupational health and safety management system
  • A basic knowledge of OH&S through hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control
  • A basic awareness of common national and local OH&S legislations
  • Knowledge of the requirements of OHSMS ISO 45001:2018

Course Format & Style

  • Four sessions per typical day (two before lunch, two after)
  • Exercise outputs graded as part of continuous assessment
  • Mock audits and role plays on Days 4 and 5
  • Live audit role play in the host organization on day five
